WHAT WE BELIEVE
About the Bible
We believe that the Bible, all 66 books of the Old and New Testament, is the holy Word of God written by God’s holy people through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that the original text is the infallible and perfect Word of God. (II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:20-21.)
About the Holy Trinity
We believe that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are all equally one God; and that the Holy Triune God is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. (Genesis 1:26; John 14:10; Acts 5:3-4; Philippians 2:5-11.)
About Jesus Christ
We believe that God the Son, Jesus, came to this earth as a man to save us from an eternity in Hell because of our sins; that He was not as an ordinary man, but was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin, and, therefore, He was not born with a sinful nature; that as God, He knew no sin, died to pay the price for our sins, was buried, rose from the dead, and is coming again. (Romans 5:8; 5:12-15.)
About Creation
We believe that God created the heavens and the earth, the sun, moon, and stars, the birds in the air, the beasts in the field, the fish in the sea, the sky, the ocean, the grass, the vegetables, the fruit-bearing trees and everything in creation; that He created man and woman in His image; and that He created all of creation in six days. (Genesis 1; John 1:1-3; Colossians 1:16-17.)
About Salvation
We believe that salvation is a gift from God, so we cannot be saved by our own good works; that by confessing with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and by believing in our hearts that the God of salvation raised Jesus from the dead, and by accepting Jesus into our hearts, we can be saved; that because we are all sinners, we have fallen short of the glory of God and can only go to God through Jesus Christ; that if by faith we believe personally that Jesus died for me, rose from the dead, and is coming again, we can be saved. (John 1:12, 14:8; Romans 3:23, 10:9-10; Ephesians 2:8-9)
About Sin
We believe that sin, in a word, is disobedience to the Word of God; that all people, as descendants of Adam, are born with a sinful nature; that because of that sinful nature, we sin and have all become sinners; that because of this we commit wicked, unjust, and unrighteous acts, and by committing immoral sins, we disobey God’s law; that the only sin that cannot be forgiven in this life or the life to come is not believing in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and the God of salvation. (Romans 3:23, 6:23; Genesis 2:7; Galatians 5:19-21; Matthew 12:31-32, 23:23-24, 25:45-49, Romans 14:23; James 4:17-21.)
About Death
We believe that sin brought death to all people; that there are three kinds of death; the first is spiritual death, the second is physical death, and the third is eternal death; that spiritual death is separation from God, physical death is separation of the soul and spirit from the flesh, and eternal death is eternal separation from God and spending an eternity in hell forever; that dying without believing in Jesus will result in receiving the eternal judgment of God in hell forever. (Hebrews 9:27; Romans 6:23; Luke 16:19-31; Revelation 20:11-15)
About the Second Coming of Jesus
We believe that at this moment, Jesus is sitting at the right hand of God the Father; that He will first come in the air and take all of the saved, God’s children, to Heaven in the rapture; that seven years after the rapture, Jesus will come again to the earth as the King of Kings and will establish His Kingdom and rule the world. (Revelation 19:11-16, 20:4; I Thessalonians 4:13-18, I Corinthians 15:51-52)
About the Church
We believe that the church is the body of Christ and that we are members of His body; that as members of His body, we as the local church must obey the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20; that churches who do not obey the Great Commission, universal churches, and churches who neither believe nor teach that Jesus is God are not Biblical churches. (Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 1:23, 5:30; I Timothy 3:15)
About Heaven
We believe that heaven is a literal place, not an imaginary or mythical place; that Jesus went to heaven after He died on for our sins and rose from the dead; that the third heaven, where the Apostle Paul was caught up, is the heaven to which all Christians will go. (Matthew 4:17; John 14:1; II Corinthians 12:1-4; Revelation 21-22.)
About Hell
We believe that hell is a literal place; that hell is a place of fire, a place where a single drop of water cannot be had no matter how much one thirsts, and a place where suffering continues day and night for all of eternity; that people who do not believe in Jesus as their Lord and Savior and are not saved will all go to hell. (Matthew 25:41; Luke 16:19-31; Mark 9:43-48; Revelation 20:10-15)
About the Resurrection
We believe in the resurrection of both believers and unbelievers; that those who believe in Jesus and are saved will be resurrected in glory to spend their eternity in the glory of heaven; that unbelievers will be resurrected to be condemned to judgment for an eternity in hell. (John 5:28-29; Philippians 3:20-21, I Corinthians 15:40-43.)
About the Final Judgment
We believe that there is a final judgment for Christians and unbelievers; that the believers’ judgment will be at the Judgment Seat of Christ and that this judgment will be based on how Christians served the Lord during their lives on earth (Romans 14:10-12); that the unbelievers’ judgment will be condemnation to an eternity in hell at the White Throne Judgment, the unbelievers’ physical bodies will be resurrected and they will be judged according to the Book of Works, and they will be cast into the lake of fire for all eternity. (Revelation 20:10-15)
